Chrysler Pacifica Rumors....

This past week there have been plenty of rumors and speculation about the future of the Chrysler
Pacifica. A report back in March indicated that Chrysler was working on an AWD Pacifica that would become available in the US and Canada by the end of the year as a 2020.

One guess is that Chrysler is developing a new plug in Hybrid powertrain that would provide an AWD that
is not just an updated version of the current Pacifica powertrain, but something made completely from scratch. Other speculation is that Chrysler is switching to a new architecture that would allow for an AWD system.

According to data obtained by Automotive News from industry insiders, production of the Pacifica AWD should begin in Q2 of 2020. This timeframe matches the launch of a potential next generation Pacifica. If Chrysler announces the new van by the end of 2019, it makes sense to put it on the assembly line 3-6 months after that.

Adding an AWD version of the Pacifica would give Chrysler a huge advantage in the minivan segment since Toyota is the only manufacturer currently offering an AWD minivan and should help boost Pacifica sales.
